Welcome to The Dyslexia Spot!
Jennifer Nagel has been working in dyslexia awareness and advocacy for over two years. She has been trained by Susan Barton founder of Barton Reading where she also received her certificate of consultancy for screening of dyslexia. She has received her certificate of advocacy from The Dyslexia Training Institute. Jennifer has a certificate of completion in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading and has received her certificate of completion with the RAVE-O program.
Most notable about Jennifer is her passion for dyslexia awareness, her awareness of IDEA law, Tennessee education law and RTI. All stemming from the initial reason she got into this field: her own daughter’s struggles in school and the difficulties faced in trying to get her reading at grade level.
Jennifer is a member of ILA, International Literacy Association, as well as a member of COPAA, Council of Parent, Attorneys and Advocates.
The Dyslexia Spot would like introduce our newest advocate, LaShea Gifford to the team. LaShea has earned her certificate of advocacy from The Dyslexia Training Institute and will be working to serve families throughout East TN. LaShea is also a parent and understands first hand the difficulties parents may feel in meetings.
